Fertilizer:

Use a balnced slow-release granular form in early spring, and apply a final round of fertilizer after flowering to help the bulb store energy

Mulch:

Shredded leaves, straw, or pine needles

Keep soil consistently moist, thrives in rich fertile well-drained soil, apply a balanced or high-phosphorous fertilizer in spring and mid-summer, deadhead spent blooms, can be divided in spring if too crowded
